The yoga that is practiced here is of the VINIYOGA tradition. In Viniyoga, the asanas (postures) are approached with an understanding of the individual body’s unique condition, structural needs and capabilities. We are each very different and our bodies move and respond in different ways. Principles of adaptation are relied upon extensively. We always begin wherever we are and carefully, slowly adjust our practice to meet our individual and evolving needs. The very heart and essence of Viniyoga is the adaptation of practice to the individual, and never the adaptation of the individual to the practice. From this perspective, yoga practice becomes more of a means of deepening our personal self-awareness and this is always the key element to any process of self-transformation. Through yoga, when taught in this easy, relaxed manner, a new awareness and relationship with your body begins to very naturally blossom.
Bring a yoga mat if you have one or a blanket and wear comfortable clothing. If getting on the floor is difficult, chair yoga is also an option.
Classes are $10 each or “pay what you can.”
