Being a Unity prayer chaplain is a way to express one’s divine potential while achieving deeper spiritual fulfillment.
The role of a Unity prayer chaplain is to hold spiritual space, listen from the heart, pray with others, and hold in confidence what is shared.
Five members in the congregation completed their first training class in April of 2006. Chaplain Trainer and Team Lead Tanya Kalamanka facilitated the class. Since then, several other members of Unity Chapel & Peace Garden have taken the training, and we are delighted to have an unending source of people willing to joyfully serve in this capacity.
If you think you would like to join this group and serve as a prayer chaplain, we invite you to pray about your calling. Stepping up to this sacred service also is stepping up to your next level of spiritual growth.
People who volunteer to be a prayer chaplain agree to take on certain responsibilities, such as:
- Make a one-year commitment to serve;
- Maintain a personal prayer life;
- Make wellness calls to members of our congregation;
- Make visitations, when available;
- Communicate regularly with the prayer chaplain trainer;
- Attend a mandatory orientation, training sessions and monthly training meetings.
The Rev. Lei Lanni Burt of Light and Love Ministries developed the Prayer Chaplain Program to assist leaders in creating a ministry where people are empowered to pray with one another, recognizing God’s presence and power in every moment.
More information about the program is available from the church. Please call the church office at 951-658-4290 or pick up a brochure during your next visit. To express interest in attending the next mandatory training session for new Unity prayer chaplains, please contact the church office.
